The Artists' Papers Register has records of collections of papers and other records about artists.
You can search the APR for records of artists, and from these see records of the collections that relate to them. There is also a thesaurus of terms which you can browse to find artists of that "type" (for example, "DESIGNERS", "PASTELLISTS" or "COMPUTER ARTISTS").
Finally, you can view a list of the repositories where these collections can be found.
What do we mean by an "artist"?
In this context, "artist" is used broadly to mean people and organisations involved in the production of artistic and artisanal works. This includes not only individuals, but also families, companies and related organisations like art societies and museums.
